This was written in response to the prompt ‘define sanctuary using all your senses’
sanctuary senses like a soft blanket like barefoot like a nap a GREAT one on the couch with the pup just a little more room would be perfect but this is enough (you get me?) like the hug of been-too-long -but-haven’t-missed-a-beat like home (obviously) in all the layered (room-y? (ha!)) ways that home can feel like stew goat mbuzi mchuzi warm in and outside the body spicy and sweet filling ~nourishing~ like calling you home (we already said that didn’t we…) like from the source from the garden off the farm and the longer it simmers the better like… lavender and lemon and honey and coconut (but only lightly) and amber (i like that a lot actually) a little musky honestly but in the good way like seasonings spicy and like slightly fermented sweet fruits and a hard days work and like moss? ummmmm like oooo like pockets of open air at sea like laughter the kind from IN HERE like eight-part harmonies like heated debate like loving empowerment like the shameless wail of grief like the roaring of the masses like niggas around the kitchen island around the campfire in the fire hall type jawn forreal like a gallery of aesthetics a color coded closet like regality and like ratchetry (you get me) like bouncing dat ass in slow motion like prancing across wood floors like the glisten of well kept skin like rest like love like… (one mo’ time for the people in the back) like home
